FEED YOUR SKIN

As much as we are taught to believe that the products we apply on our face can really make the difference, it truly is not the sole action to achieving a beautiful luminous complexion. I really believe that beautiful healthy skin often starts with your diet. Incorporating nourishing foods that nurture your skin will definitely make a difference in how your skin reacts, ages, and is kept moisturized.  Creating simple and effortless healthy snacks for glowing skin definitely makes it easier to incorporate it into your daily regimen. By making these minor changes to your diet, you will soon be able to see a visible change in your complexion. Here are some fast and easy healthy snacks you can put together to feed your skin from the inside out.

 

KIWI –  Slice up a Kiwi for your daily vitamin C needs. Vitamin C stimulates collagen synthesis, which keeps skin taut and will work to help smooth fine lines.

 

ALMONDS – A good source of antioxidants, they help to inhibit free radical damage that prevents aging and inflammation.

Quick tip: Soak almonds overnight in water and consume in the morning. The Vitamin E present in the almonds is activated when soaked and also allows them to be easily digestible. Eat up to 10 almonds in the morning and evening.

 

CHICKPEAS –  High in zinc, this extremely easy to incorporate legume protects against free radical damage and speeds up cell repair.  Our favorite way to enjoy this snack is with this easy recipe:

1 cup of cooked organic chickpeas

1 tbsp of olive oil

Add sea salt to taste

A pinch of garlic powder

Blend all the ingredients together to make a paste.  You can use this as a spread on toast or crackers or as a relish for veggies (If refrigerated you can keep this in stock for a while).

 

GHEE – Used since ancient times in India as a source of high nutrition and healing benefits, Ghee keeps all your cells nourished and rejuvenated. An excellent source of Vitamin A, E, and K, these important nutrients play a role in keeping your skin glowing. It can improve skin’s health and keep your skin moisturized naturally as well as prevent dry skin. It can also treat skin conditions like psoriasis from within. Incorporate a few servings into your dishes (like eggs or sauté veggies with it) or spread it on toast.

 

BEETS – High in folates, it stimulates cell renewal and repairs cells which help to battle premature aging.

Our snack recipe:

2 medium beets peeled and cubed (miniature cubes)

1tbspn of squeezed fresh lemon

1 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil

1 tsp of paprika

2 tbsp of full-fat organic yogurt

Mix the coconut oil, salt, paprika, and beets together and bake on a tray at 325 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until they are soft.

Once the tray has cooled down, in a bowl mix the lemon and yogurt with the beets and keep refrigerated. This is a satisfying treat during the day or you can have it as a side salad you’re your entrees.
